Title:
Extremely Replicable Phenomena in Social Psychology | Halo Effect
consent_explanation1
Primary Investigators:
Chris Chartier, LaMar Sharpe
consent_explanation2
A. PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND
Previous research done on the halo effect has found that there is a correlation between physical attractiveness and trait perception (Batres & Shiramizu, 2022.; Dion et al, 1972). Higher rated physical attractiveness will be associated with positive traits, while lower rated physical attractiveness will not receive the same positive traits. The current study will expand on the reliability and validity of previous research done on the halo effect.

B. PROCEDURES
After joining the study on Prolific, participants will complete an informed consent document online. Then, participants will view 16 face images collected from the Chicago Face Database. Participants will score each of the 16 faces on all 14 traits (attractiveness, aggression, caringness, confidence, dominance, emotional, stability, intelligence, meanness, responsibility, sociability, trustworthiness, unhappiness, weirdness). Finally, when participants score all 16 images, they will be debriefed and rewarded through Prolific.
